Abstract
It is accepted that nasal polyps are usually accompanied by some degree of polypoidal change in the antral lining and may be associated with varying degrees of antral infection. X-rays have been the traditional method of assessing the antrum in nasal polyps, but maxillary sinoscopy has now been shown to be the most accurate method of investigating the antrum.
Maxillary sinoscopy of 40 antra with ipsilateral polyps showed a high incidence of mucosal abnormalities. retained secretions and ostial narrowing. In is conclucled that in nasal polyposis. the antra warrant careful assessment and that antroscopy is a highly satisfactory method for this purpose.
